Lionel Messi health status: Inter Miami sensation is anticipating results from examinations regarding his hamstring issue in the Leagues Cup.

The Leagues Cup marked a significant moment for Lionel Messi as he made his debut in Major League Soccer, leading Inter Miami to their first-ever trophy in 2023.

However, the 2025 edition has brought some challenges.

Inter Miami may need to push on without Messi’s impact after the Argentine superstar went down early during the club's second group-stage match.

The Herons did manage to edge closer to the knockout phase, defeating Nexaca in a penalty shootout following a dramatic 2-2 tie, but Messi faced a setback with an injury in the process. The latest updates from The Sporting News detail the situation and the potential length of his absence.

**Lionel Messi Injury Update**

In the 11th minute of the thrilling draw with Nexaca on Saturday, Messi had to be substituted due to what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

He collided with Nexaca defender Alexis Pena and fell to the ground. After receiving treatment from the trainers, he left the field on his own accord and was replaced by Federico Redondo.

"He felt discomfort, and we will not know how serious the injury is until tomorrow," said Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano following the match. "There is probably something there, but it may not be severe since he wasn’t in significant pain. However, he did experience a pull."
