Former Superman actor Dean Cain has made headlines with his recent decision to join U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in support of Donald Trump’s tough stance on immigration. Under Trump's administration, ICE has significantly intensified its immigration enforcement efforts and has secured an additional $75 billion in funding as part of the president’s ambitious legislative agenda, which includes plans to hire 10,000 new ICE agents by 2029.
In an appearance on Fox News with Jesse Watters, Cain revealed that he felt compelled to join ICE after sharing one of their recruitment videos on Instagram. The video garnered considerable attention after it was featured on Watters' show.
“I’m a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer. Although I wasn’t with ICE before, once I shared that video and you mentioned it on your show, the response was overwhelming,” Cain shared with Watters. “I've since spoken with officials at ICE, and I will be sworn in as an ICE agent very soon.”
When asked about his motivation, Cain stated, “This country was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not. I believe it’s time to do the right thing. This is the right thing."
He further emphasized, “Our immigration system is broken. While Congress needs to address it, President Trump ran on a promise to fix it. He is delivering on that promise. It’s what I voted for, and I’m committed to playing my part in making this happen.”
Cain, known for his role as Superman opposite Teri Hatcher in the ‘90s television series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," expressed hope that others would join him in this mission. “I’m stepping up,” he said. “I hope many former officers and former ICE agents will do the same so we can quickly meet those recruitment goals and protect our country.”
Since Trump’s return to the White House, ICE has carried out unprecedented immigration raids across the U.S., targeting a minimum of 3,000 arrests per day. These raids have resulted in the apprehension of undocumented individuals, residents with legal protections, and even U.S. citizens, often disregarding due process.
The agency’s aggressive tactics have ignited protests nationwide, leading to the detention and prosecution of activists and civilians who attempt to document or resist ICE's actions.
